| ABOUT US History Founded in 2008, the American Baseball Union (ABU) is a national baseball organization spawned off from the success of the Zone Baseball League. The Zone Baseball League was founded in 2000 as a 4 team adult baseball league in NYC, and is now a 16 team league that plays in Las Vegas. Entering it's 8th season of play in Las Vegas, the Zone Baseball League is known as a competitive, yet enjoyable league for players of all skill and experience levels to enjoy. Mission The mission of the American Baseball Union is simply to provide players who love to play the game, the opportunity to do so. Our goal is to provide an atmosphere that allows for good, clean, fun competition. Our philosophy: our members pay to play, so let's give them a league that they can be proud of. Why ABU? The ABU is run by players who love the game and understand the difficulties that team managers may have running a team. Here are some reasons to enter your team into an ABU affiliated league: - Affordable League Fees: Unlike other organizations that charge more for a 3 game tournament than we do for an entire season, we understand that playing in our leagues should be affordable, not a financial burden. - Easy communication: Our directors are available via phone, email, text messages, or via our online message boards. When our members have concerns, we answer them. - Rules that favor players: Open lineups and defensive substitutions, schedule flexibility, and other rules recognize the fact that our members pay to play. We work with all teams to ensure that players get more playing time. - Video highlights, audio podcasts, blogs and more: Our multimedia section highlights the members that make our leagues great. Highlightsof the week, podcasts featuring interviews with key league members, and local baseball blogs are just the start of what we have to offer.
